\n \nJob Summary
\n \nIn this role the Staff Accountant will provide general accounting support for the Accounting Department, completing various general accounting functions as required. This position will be responsible for the Payroll function (with oversight by the Asst. Controller) and providing support to the Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable functions, including maintaining accounting document files. This is an onsite position and relocation will not be provided.
\n \nEssential Job Functions
\n \nResponsible for general ledger account reconciliations as required by company procedures.
\nReconciles financial discrepancies by collecting and analyzing account information.
\nAssist in the completion of month-end requirements.
\nPrepares monthly accounting reports at management’s request.
\nAssists with external and internal audit requirements.
\nResponsible for the processing of the weekly payrolls and all related activities, to include: monthly payroll journal entries.
\nProcesses supplemental payrolls, and any ad hoc payroll reporting, as needed.
\nPrepares general ledger account entries by compiling and analyzing account information.
\nRecommends financial actions by analyzing accounting options.
\nMaintains financial security by following internal controls.
\nAnswers accounting questions from internal customers and departments by researching and interpreting accounting policy and regulations.
\nMaintains customer confidence and protects operations by keeping financial information confidential.
\nBacks-up both the Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable functions.
\nCompletes special projects and requests from management by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing account information.
\nParticipates in the monthly physical inventory count process.
\nOther duties as required.
\n \nEducation/Experience/Skills Required
\n \nBachelor’s Degree in Accounting ,is required.
\n2+ years’ experience in general accounting is required.
\nGeneral accounting skills and knowledge in accounts receivable, accounts payable, general ledger and payroll, is required (UKG-formerly Kronos, a plus).
\nStrong oral and written communication skills. Communicate effectively with employees and customers.
\nStrong organizational, planning and multi-tasking skills.
\nAbility to effectively present information and respond quickly to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
\nAbility to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
\nAbility to perform basic and more complicated mathematical fundamentals – add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
\nAbility to use PC computers and have command of Microsoft software – Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and others as needed – including accounting systems. Use of company computer systems (as trained).
\nPositive customer service and ability to work with others in a team setting.
\nUnderstanding of the inner workings of the company and can answer questions asked by internal and external customers.
\nAbility to apply logic in problem solving for both internal and external customers.
\nStrong motivation and self-starting initiative is required.
