Full-Time News Photographer (Job# L482)

WFMZ-TV 69News is looking for a talented, creative, and motivated News Photographer to join our award-winning Allentown newsroom.

WFMZ-TV is committed to delivering accurate, compelling, and impactful local news coverage to the communities we serve throughout the Lehigh Valley and Berks County. We are looking for a photographer who understands the power of visual storytelling and can capture the moments, sounds, and images that bring important stories to life.

The ideal candidate is a visual storyteller with strong news judgment, a sense of urgency, and a passion for journalism. We value photographers who take pride in their craft, work well with reporters and producers, and consistently look for creative ways to make our coverage stand out.

Responsibilities

• Shoot, edit, and deliver high-quality video for daily news coverage, breaking news, and special projects.
• Work collaboratively with reporters, producers, and assignment editors to develop compelling stories.
• Capture strong visuals, natural sound, and sequences that enhance storytelling and engage viewers.
• Respond quickly and safely to breaking news and developing stories.
• Demonstrate creativity and initiative in the field, finding distinctive ways to tell stories through video.
• Edit news packages, interviews, live reports, and other content for broadcast and digital platforms.
• Contribute to investigative reporting, enterprise stories, and long-form projects.
• Maintain professional equipment and ensure all gear is ready for daily assignments.
• Follow newsroom policies, journalistic standards, and established safety procedures.
• Adapt to changing assignments and deadlines in a fast-paced newsroom.

Qualifications

• Previous experience as a news photographer or in a related video production role is preferred.
• Strong shooting, editing, and visual storytelling skills.
• Knowledge of video cameras, field audio equipment, lighting, and nonlinear editing systems.
• A strong understanding of news judgment, composition, sequencing, and natural sound.
• Ability to work independently while contributing to a collaborative newsroom environment.
• Ability to meet deadlines and remain composed under pressure.
• Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• A valid driver's license and a good driving record.
• Flexibility to work varied shifts, weekends, holidays, and breaking-news assignments as needed.
